Should college be free? A current universal problem poses this question. In today’s world, full of public education standards that hold students maybe too high and in a generation bogged down by student debt, this issue qualifies as a problem more than many are maybe even willing to admit. While the prospect of free college proposes excellent ideals such as a stronger and smarter generation, no student loan problems, and a higher educated society, the truth may actually lie in the reality that making college free would do more hindrance than good and is not the answer to these problems. Free college would increase economic problems, according to Andrew P. Kelly, who says it would only shifts the cost to someone else. As well, it would also hinder our education system. Michael J. Petrilli writes that making college free would â€Å"probably shift billions of dollars a year from programs that help talented poor kids access higher education and improve our schools†. Alth ough the concept of free higher education is becoming appealing to the general population, it ultimately would create more problems than it solved and do virtually nothing of huge significance to increase the level of intelligence in modern society. Locke Vs. Hobbes The Need For The Social Contract

Locke vs Hobbes When we think of evolution, especially in scientific terms, we think of species emerging and changing physically, since we are observing the results over long periods of time. Evolution, though, if you can call it that, is a fleeting thing when observed in a smaller timeline, and we find it hard to understand that it is simply the process of life. We appeared on this world only 250,000 years ago, and as far as we can tell, we have not changed much physically, except for the slight racial differences which are slowly disappearing as we mingle more. We are not only changing and evolving physically, but more profoundly mentally, and rather than individually, more as a†¦show more content†¦It soon became evident that resources once given to an autocratic figure could now easily be shared among the populace. As Locke infers, humanity realized their true nature. The difference between Hobbe’s and Locke’s beliefs on our human nature, the social contract, and the role of government within, are like night and day. Hobbes’ views on human nature are dark and untrusting. His views on human nature were based on the belief than humans are mere objects reacting to their base desires in an effort to satisfy them. This hints that we are nothing more than biological machines reacting to our most basic animal cravings. As such, when we act together as a society, we require someone to make critical decisions for us all in our daily lives governing our dealings with each other, and that requires a supreme leader or sovereign body. Hobbe’s views, of course, assume that the leader or sovereign body will always act to assure the personal liberty of the citizens. As we know from history, though, this is far from the case. Oddly, Hobbes did not consider religious enthusiasm or fanaticism to be an integral part of this philosophy. It requires a leader or sovereign body that is wise and has the interest of the citizenry in mind. Question: Discuss about the Critical Thinking and Managerial Decisions. Answer: Introduction: The primary purpose of this article is to place the open innovation is the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Korea. Moreover, another objective of the journal is to evaluate the role of intermediary in facilitating open innovation in SMEs. Conceptual underpinnings Francia et al. (2013) states that Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are the driving forces of modern economies and they are associated with some aspects- employment generation, export promotion and technological innovations. In that journal, it is also mentioned that with open innovation these firms can use their external ideas as well as internal ideas to advance their technology. Rahman et al. (2016) thus depicts that organization's desires to include in their business model commercialize their idea along with the external ideas. However, Spithoven et al. (2013) argued that the concept of open innovation is easily studied in larger organization as they can exchange technological assets easily than the small and medium enterprises. Some of the factors that are associated with the journal are: Open innovation in SMEs The open innovation helps SME to maintain a competitive advantage and gain entry into new markets as SME are more flexible and have the ability to adopt the changes faster than the larger organization. In this context, the nature of the SME open innovation along with its concept will be illustrated. Nature of Innovation Yoo et al. (2012) also affirms that SME are more capable of adopting change as they do not have high-risk of loss in their organization approach. On the other hand, Yu and Hao (2014) also depicts that in the larger organization they have their operational functionality associated with their stakeholders so much that the innovation may influence their regular proceedings. These innovative moves may results in the dissatisfaction among their employees and the productivity of the entire organization may be reduced. It is also evident from findings that SMEs usually follows some the approaches adopted by the larger organization and then identify innovative ideas for formulating new methods to satisfy the customer needs in a different approach than the larger firms. Business model for open innovation in SMEs The primary objective of any innovation is to improve the organizational approach and enhance their market by proper commercialization. Spithoven et al. (2013) mentioned that SME uses their limited resources to achieve production economies of scale. SME can also associate with other organizations that have huge resources availability and both the larger and the small and medium enterprises can use each others strength as a complementary asset. Moreover, West et al. (2014) criticizes that this collaboration often restricts the opportunities and alternatives for SMEs and thus it is better to associate with other small sized enterprises. There are two different models for the SME through which the open innovation can be achieved- exploration model and exploitation model. Exploration model In the exploration model, Navinchandra (2012) stated that SME can opt for external partnership and thus so that they can attain concentrate on retaining high levels of internal competence with the limited resource of technology and organizational assets. Schneider and Spieth (2013) on the other hand, affirms by depicting that SME prefers to cooperate with public research institutes and universities so that they do not have to share their innovative technology with other competitors. (2013) illustrated that in the exploitation model, the SMEs take initiatives to collaborate with supplier customer relationship with larger firms and other SMEs. Moreover, more than one SME can also collaborate with other SME to share their innovative approach so that the best idea can be implemented for a significant benefit of the society. Markides (2013) depicts that this will not only enhance the productivity of the small enterprises but it will also help them to attain more profitability. Figure 2: Exploitation model of open innovation for SME (Source: Lin et al., 2013) An intermediated network model: KICMS case According to the statistics provided by the National Statistics Office of Korea, the number of SME in the concerned country is exponentially increased and is 3,542,350 in the year 2014 among 3,545,473 total organizations that make the SME leads the race by the ratio of 99.9 (Status of Korean SMEs, 2016). (2016) further depicts that in Korea, KICMS that is an organization that collaborates other SME managers uses Cross-Functional Consortium Families (CF2s) that helps smaller firms to maximize their possibility of achieving business synergies compared to the larger company. This association helps the SME through four different procedures- collaboration research, supporting the construction of collaboration structures, providing consulting services during collaboration and lastly to make them aware of the open markets for SMEs. Strategy adopted by managers Love and Roper (2015) depict that the managers must possess the ability to present the innovative technology in Korean industry through some of the effective procedure. Managers should value the training session to their employee so that they can identify current market demands for developing innovative technology for the benefits of the organization. Moreover, some managers emphasize on the marketing for innovation lesser than the larger firms along with the Introduction of external knowledge do. The primary reason for this lesser investment in market innovation is that smaller firms in Korea face are that they cannot compete with the established organization and they have less financial resources. Madridà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ Guijarro et al. (2013) stated that maximum managers focus on the product innovation. The primary objective for adopting this strategy is that this organization values the market demand more than any other stakeholders do and the working personnel uses their training for customization of the products according to the customer's demand and hence defines as more flexible. (2013) also highlights the external information usages at the significance level by illustrating three types of innovation- major product innovation, minor product innovation and service innovation. Keydy Vasquez Cerrato Mrs.Pimental U.S History 1 06 October 2015 Valley Forge; Would You Have Quit? War is a time where it test s those soldiers in battle, because when times get tough they almost all quit. But I salute those that stay to fight for our country we all know that George Washington and his troops withdrew from Boston and retreated New York. At Valley Gorge many soldiers deserted' but through all this most of the army had survived the harsh winter. Quit means to not re e nlis t-Should I Quit? I will be reenlisting in the continental Army because the men at Valley Forge continue to show a spirit of Alacrity, soldiers that have died and or are sick need to be replaced. Also that the words of Thomas Paine have inspired me because I don't want to be known as a summer soldier. Dr.Albigence Waldo was at Valley Forge first hand witnessing, and even experiencing all of the suffering that occurred during the battles. "Yet they still show a spirit of Alacrity (cheerful, willingness) (Doc C).Are the exact same words of Dr.Waldo and what he notices at Valley Forge. During his help he also noticed that you could see the feet through the worn shoes and that such content not to be expected from so young troops' ( Doc C). The words of Dr.Waldo's diary allowed me more clearly that I can still be in the Continental Army. The American Crisis showed me once again that with more reason that my place should not be empty because my country needs me to fight for them. The words that Thomas Paine used in that article are inspirational because they convinced me to not want to be known as a summer soldier. "These are times that try men's souls... The summer soldierwill in this crisis shrink from the service of their country " ( Doc D) Those are not the only words that were said , he also said that "We have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict the more glorious the triumph " ( Doc D) With these words we should gather that they are true because all hard work pays off in the end. We all know that George Washington started at Valley Forge with almost 12,000 in the year of 1777 and ended up with 8,000 in 1778 because almost 4,000 soldiers died during their stay at Valley Forge mostly because of the harsh winter. It is known that an estimated amount of 2,898 soldiers got sick in December. In February almost 3,989were also sick (Doc A). From December to the June of 1778 the deaths of the soldiers was between 1,500 to 2,500. The Amount of people that George Washington loses is incredible because it's a war that needs as much help it can receive. All this evidence proves that it should stay and help my country. The deaths that occurred can't stay vacant, they need to be replaced by new people. We need to show that even though we are young we have strength to fight . Many soldiers shouldn't be known as summer soldiers but brave men that risk their own lives to defend the country we live in.
