The Religion of Australia is largergerly Protestants , 26 percent of Australians are Catholics , and there are smaller like East Orthodox, Muslim , Buddhist , and Jewish population . The education begins at the age of six and the upper limit is to sixteen . Australia has more than ten thousand primary and secondary schools. In the early 1990s Australian had thirty-nine universities . The way of life in Australia reflects the heritage of British settlers . Australia has many interesting sites like beaches, mountains, deserts , museums, art , music , Film and many other sites . The oldest music of Australia is Aborigines. That music plays accentual role in both social and sacred life. During social gatherings called corroborees , singing and dancing provide the major form of entertainment. Good morning/afternoon everyone. I am sure that many of you will agree with me, after studying and discussing in class war poetry, that war is destructive; it destroys properties and lives. It is also the meaning if not dehumanizing as Owen in his ‘Dulce et Decorum Est' has pointed out. The violence and destructiveness of war reduces men in the battlefield into something less than human; they are stripped of their dignity. Ultimately as Owen points out in his poem, war is senseless or futile. Whatever the reason for going to war, it's not justification enough for the senseless slaughter of young lives. Owen, as you know, has great ability in challenging the responders senses, to experience the horror of war. He allows us to see, to hear, to feel, to smell, even to taste the ugliness of war. Thus we see a group of soldiers trudging the muddy tracks blindly to safety. They are ‘drunk with fatigue' and Owen captures their dehumanization by a series of similes. They are ‘bent double, like old beggars, coughing like hags' and ‘deaf' to the sound and fury of guns and gas shells dropping around them. I still can visualize and hear their panic reaction to the chlorine gas and those who are not quick enough to put on their mask, literally drown in what Owen calls the ‘green sea' and our auditory sense is challenged by the guttering, the choking and the convulsed sobs. You will agree with me for sure, that the image that Owen conjures up of the victim of the chlorine gas is no less than grotesquely horrible. We see the ‘white eyes writhing' in his agony and the convulsions that are followed by the blood that comes gargling out of the victim's ‘froth corrupted lungs. Again a simile is used ‘bitter as the cud of vile,' effectively giving us the ‘awful taste' of the situation. I know of one other poet who also condemns war and who can effectively communicate the horror of war and the senselessness of it, simply by challenging our senses. Kenneth Slessor, like Wilfred Owen, has a strong indictment of war, if Owen's tone in his poem is angry because, for him , ‘Dulce et decorum est, pro patria mori' which since the time of Horace was used by authorities to entice men to fight for their country – it is a big ie. From the images that he conjures in this poem, there is nothing glorious about dying in such an indignified, brutal and senseless way. In contrast, Kenneth Slessor's tone in his ‘Beach Burial' is elegiac; he laments the destructiveness, the dehumanizing effect and the futility of war like Owen, although his anger is tempered and what we get is a tone of frustration, he communicates just as powerfully an antiwar message. His ‘Beach Burial' presents a dramatic situation in which a group of dead sailors floats towards the beach at El Alamein in the Middle East. The dehumanization motif comes almost strikingly because the sailors is at the mercy of the sea, no longer in control of their lives, but subject to the ebb and the flow of the sea. The fact that they are ‘unknown seamen,' a mixture of allied and axis soldiers probably highlights the senselessness of war. A man who takes pity on the dead ‘snatched them from the water' and bury them in burrows along the beach. Clearly, the image portrayed here is one of dehumanization and responders feel great pity for them in realizing that these sailors ultimate protection is to be found within the earth as animals find comfort in the safety of their burrows. Slessor's irony is obvious in the way he describes the situation; ‘Between the sob and clubbing of the gunfire, Someone, it seems, has time for this, To pluck them from the shallows and bury them in burrows And tread the sand upon their nakedness' Our auditory sense is challenged by the words ‘sob' and ‘clubbing' in this line so that we can hear the destruction of war. When Slessor uses the word ‘pluck' to describe the man's action of removing the bodies from the water to be buried, I am reminded of the soldier smothered in gas in Owen's poem being ‘flung' behind a wagon. Both poets certainly capture the unceremonious brutality of war. The futility of war is further highlighted by the man's bewilderment, not knowing what name to write on the crudely made tidewood crosses that he used for each grave. ‘Unknown seaman' is the only thing he can think to write. And, at this point the voice of the poet is clearly mournful, as suggested by the repetition of the word ‘such' and the tone; ‘Written with such perplexity, with such bewildered pity, The words choke as they begin' Certainly there is no glory in either their death or their burial for their memorial, only stresses their anonymity. The ultimate senselessness of it all is captured in the last stanza; ‘Dead seamen, gone in search of the same landfall, Whether as enemies they fought, Or fought with us, or neither, the sand joins them together, Enlisted on the other front' In life these sailor soldiers where able to live together without enmity, but now in death they are peacefully united; they have come from so many lands and end up in the same landfall somewhere on the beach of El Alamein. I believe we should take the message of both Owen and Slessor seriously that war destroys, that it robs us of our human dignity, and that it is ultimately senseless. Both poets have experienced the horror of war, Owen as a lieutenant in the British army in WWI and Slessor as an Australian Official War Correspondent in the Middle East during WWII. If belligerent or war-like world leaders of today study these poems, I am sure the world will be a better place to live in.

Poetry Analysis on â€Å"Facing It† Veterans are more susceptible to the memories of war, pain, suffering, and death. Memorials such as the Vietnam Memorial bring back many memories for veterans when they view these memorials. Those memories can attack the mind, and cause a veteran to feel vulnerable. Many veterans can only associate those memorials with the pain, suffering, and death that they had seen while at war. Yusef Komunyakaa expresses the pain that is felt within war veterans when they remember memories of war and survival in his poem Facing It. Similes are a small part of the poem, but give larger meaning behind each verse in which it was used. In â€Å"Facing It†, there are few verses that use simile, but those verses have important meaning. The Vietnam Memorial has 58, 022 names on the black surface, and the speaker says, â€Å"I go down the 58, 022 names,/ half-expecting to find/ my own in letters like smoke.† (14-16) Line 16 uses simile to describe the letters as being smoke. The white on black of the memorial gives a fog or smoke-like appearance when quickly scanning over names. As Locke infers, humanity realized their true nature. The difference between Hobbe’s and Locke’s beliefs on our human nature, the social contract, and the role of government within, are like night and day. Hobbes’ views on human nature are dark and untrusting. His views on human nature were based on the belief than humans are mere objects reacting to their base desires in an effort to satisfy them. This hints that we are nothing more than biological machines reacting to our most basic animal cravings. As such, when we act together as a society, we require someone to make critical decisions for us all in our daily lives governing our dealings with each other, and that requires a supreme leader or sovereign body. Hobbe’s views, of course, assume that the leader or sovereign body will always act to assure the personal liberty of the citizens. As we know from history, though, this is far from the case. Oddly, Hobbes did not consider religious enthusiasm or fanaticism to be an integral part of this philosophy. It requires a leader or sovereign body that is wise and has the interest of the citizenry in mind. Answer: Introduction: The primary purpose of this article is to place the open innovation is the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Korea. Moreover, another objective of the journal is to evaluate the role of intermediary in facilitating open innovation in SMEs. Conceptual underpinnings Francia et al. (2013) states that Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are the driving forces of modern economies and they are associated with some aspects- employment generation, export promotion and technological innovations. In that journal, it is also mentioned that with open innovation these firms can use their external ideas as well as internal ideas to advance their technology. Rahman et al. (2016) thus depicts that organization's desires to include in their business model commercialize their idea along with the external ideas. However, Spithoven et al. (2013) argued that the concept of open innovation is easily studied in larger organization as they can exchange technological assets easily than the small and medium enterprises. Some of the factors that are associated with the journal are: Open innovation in SMEs The open innovation helps SME to maintain a competitive advantage and gain entry into new markets as SME are more flexible and have the ability to adopt the changes faster than the larger organization. In this context, the nature of the SME open innovation along with its concept will be illustrated. Nature of Innovation Yoo et al. (2012) also affirms that SME are more capable of adopting change as they do not have high-risk of loss in their organization approach. On the other hand, Yu and Hao (2014) also depicts that in the larger organization they have their operational functionality associated with their stakeholders so much that the innovation may influence their regular proceedings. These innovative moves may results in the dissatisfaction among their employees and the productivity of the entire organization may be reduced. It is also evident from findings that SMEs usually follows some the approaches adopted by the larger organization and then identify innovative ideas for formulating new methods to satisfy the customer needs in a different approach than the larger firms. Business model for open innovation in SMEs The primary objective of any innovation is to improve the organizational approach and enhance their market by proper commercialization. Spithoven et al. (2013) mentioned that SME uses their limited resources to achieve production economies of scale. SME can also associate with other organizations that have huge resources availability and both the larger and the small and medium enterprises can use each others strength as a complementary asset. Moreover, West et al. (2014) criticizes that this collaboration often restricts the opportunities and alternatives for SMEs and thus it is better to associate with other small sized enterprises. There are two different models for the SME through which the open innovation can be achieved- exploration model and exploitation model. Exploration model In the exploration model, Navinchandra (2012) stated that SME can opt for external partnership and thus so that they can attain concentrate on retaining high levels of internal competence with the limited resource of technology and organizational assets. Schneider and Spieth (2013) on the other hand, affirms by depicting that SME prefers to cooperate with public research institutes and universities so that they do not have to share their innovative technology with other competitors. (2013) illustrated that in the exploitation model, the SMEs take initiatives to collaborate with supplier customer relationship with larger firms and other SMEs. Moreover, more than one SME can also collaborate with other SME to share their innovative approach so that the best idea can be implemented for a significant benefit of the society. Markides (2013) depicts that this will not only enhance the productivity of the small enterprises but it will also help them to attain more profitability. (2016) further depicts that in Korea, KICMS that is an organization that collaborates other SME managers uses Cross-Functional Consortium Families (CF2s) that helps smaller firms to maximize their possibility of achieving business synergies compared to the larger company. This association helps the SME through four different procedures- collaboration research, supporting the construction of collaboration structures, providing consulting services during collaboration and lastly to make them aware of the open markets for SMEs. Strategy adopted by managers Love and Roper (2015) depict that the managers must possess the ability to present the innovative technology in Korean industry through some of the effective procedure. Managers should value the training session to their employee so that they can identify current market demands for developing innovative technology for the benefits of the organization. Moreover, some managers emphasize on the marketing for innovation lesser than the larger firms along with the Introduction of external knowledge do. The primary reason for this lesser investment in market innovation is that smaller firms in Korea face are that they cannot compete with the established organization and they have less financial resources. Madridà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ Guijarro et al. (2013) stated that maximum managers focus on the product innovation. The primary objective for adopting this strategy is that this organization values the market demand more than any other stakeholders do and the working personnel uses their training for customization of the products according to the customer's demand and hence defines as more flexible. War is a time where it test s those soldiers in battle, because when times get tough they almost all quit. But I salute those that stay to fight for our country we all know that George Washington and his troops withdrew from Boston and retreated New York. At Valley Gorge many soldiers deserted' but through all this most of the army had survived the harsh winter. Quit means to not re e nlis t-Should I Quit? I will be reenlisting in the continental Army because the men at Valley Forge continue to show a spirit of Alacrity, soldiers that have died and or are sick need to be replaced. Also that the words of Thomas Paine have inspired me because I don't want to be known as a summer soldier. Dr.Albigence Waldo was at Valley Forge first hand witnessing, and even experiencing all of the suffering that occurred during the battles. "Yet they still show a spirit of Alacrity (cheerful, willingness) (Doc C).Are the exact same words of Dr.Waldo and what he notices at Valley Forge. During his help he also noticed that you could see the feet through the worn shoes and that such content not to be expected from so young troops' ( Doc C). The words of Dr.Waldo's diary allowed me more clearly that I can still be in the Continental Army. The American Crisis showed me once again that with more reason that my place should not be empty because my country needs me to fight for them. The words that Thomas Paine used in that article are inspirational because they convinced me to not want to be known as a summer soldier. "These are times that try men's souls... The summer soldierwill in this crisis shrink from the service of their country " ( Doc D) Those are not the only words that were said , he also said that "We have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict the more glorious the triumph " ( Doc D) With these words we should gather that they are true because all hard work pays off in the end. We all know that George Washington started at Valley Forge with almost 12,000 in the year of 1777 and ended up with 8,000 in 1778 because almost 4,000 soldiers died during their stay at Valley Forge mostly because of the harsh winter. It is known that an estimated amount of 2,898 soldiers got sick in December. In February almost 3,989were also sick (Doc A). From December to the June of 1778 the deaths of the soldiers was between 1,500 to 2,500. The Amount of people that George Washington loses is incredible because it's a war that needs as much help it can receive. All this evidence proves that it should stay and help my country. The deaths that occurred can't stay vacant, they need to be replaced by new people. We need to show that even though we are young we have strength to fight . Many soldiers shouldn't be known as summer soldiers but brave men that risk their own lives to defend the country we live in.
